After the defeat of the opposition in the Lok Sabha and the recently held assembly elections, the demand for handing over the command of the India Alliance to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has gained momentum. Former Bihar chief minister and RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav has supported Mamata Banerjee’s move. He said the Congress’s objection was of no significance, and Mamata Banerjee should be given the leadership of India Block.
Lalu Yadav’s challenge to Congress

Lalu Yadav also made a big claim about his party’s position in Bihar. He said that RJD will form the government in Bihar in 2025. Targeting Nitish Kumar, he said his yatras will not make any difference and people will support the RJD.
TMC MP Kirti Azad reaction
TMC MP Kirti Azad had earlier demanded that Mamata Banerjee be made the leader of India Block. He described Mamata Banerjee as the most suitable for the post as she has repeatedly made history by defeating the BJP in her state West Bengal.

Congress has responded
Reacting to this, Congress national secretary and Bihar in-charge Shahnawaz Alam said, “There is no big or small in India Block. Everyone should focus on strengthening the ideological foundation of the alliance. He asked Congress workers not to consider themselves subservient to any alliance partner.
This debate over the leadership of the India Alliance is a new challenge for the opposition. It will be interesting to see what steps are taken to maintain the unity of the alliance.
