PM Modi Strengthens Laws to Combat Crimes Against Women

PM Modi, while addressing the Lakhpati Didi Sammelan in Jalgaon, Maharashtra, said in reference to the Kolkata incident that “No crime against women is pardonable. 

We are strengthening the law to ensure that the criminals are given the harshest punishment for crimes against women.” the PM said.The new law provides for death penalty and life imprisonment for the crime of sexual violence against minors.”

While addressing the women who had come to the conference, PM Modi said that “Many cases of cheating daughters in the name of marriage come to light. Earlier there was no clear law to punish such fraud, but now marrying by making false promises and cheating have been clearly defined in the Indian Judicial Code. “I assure all you mothers and sisters, the central government is continuously working to stop crimes against women. Our main objective is to root out the mindset of crimes against women from Indian society.” The promise of making 3 crore sisters Lakhpati Didi was fulfilled

Recalling his old promise, the Prime Minister said that “When I came to you people during the Lok Sabha elections, I had made a promise to you. We had said that we will make 3 crore sisters Lakhpati Didi. I fulfilled this promise.”

Today, the ‘Lakhpati Didi’ scheme is not only increasing the income of women, but is also working to empower future generations. The women power of India has always contributed significantly in nation and society building. Today, when we all are working hard to make the country developed, once again our women power is coming to the forefront. Modi said that the work that our government has done for women in the last 10 years has not been done by any government since independence. 

In this program organized to honor 11 lakh new Lakhpati Didi of Maharashtra, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also interacted with many ‘Lakhpati Didi’.
