PDP to become kingmaker in Jammu and Kashmir: Congress-NCP in huddle ahead of results

The results of the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections will be announced tomorrow, but ahead of that, the efforts of the alliance to form the government have intensified. The National Conference-Congress alliance is projected to win the most seats. Jammu and Kashmir Congress chief Tariq Hameed Karra said, “We will get a clear majority in the elections; if we fall short of a few seats, we are ready to come together with like-minded parties.

National Conference president Farooq Abdullah said the NC and the Congress will form the next government in Jammu and Kashmir. If the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) also wants to join us, it is a very good thing.PDP leader Zuhaib Yousuf Mir had told the media after the exit polls came out that his party was ready for an alliance with the NC and the Congress to oust the BJP from power.

Congress and NC leaders are responding to this statement of the PDP leader that we are all walking on the same path. Reacting to Zuhaib Yusuf’s statement, Farooq Abdullah said, “His thinking is correct; we are all following the same path here. The aim of all of us is to end hatred and keep Jammu and Kashmir united. For this, everyone’s cooperation is needed. Most exit polls have given the NC Congress the most seats. The BJP is also expected to get more seats than in the 2014 assembly elections. However, no one got a majority. Therefore, the PDP can become the kingmaker after the election results.

The media also asked Farooq Abdullah about the alliance with the BJP. He said his party would never ally with the BJP to form the government. Because whatever votes we have got in the election, they are against the BJP. The BJP always puts the Muslim community in trouble and bulldozes their houses, shops, houses, and mosques. There is not a single Muslim minister in his cabinet. How can you say we will go with them?”
