As soon as the election winds come, casteism starts dominating. Some start advocating for caste census, while others for caste reservation. The interesting thing is that all the issues are put on hold as soon as the elections are over. Elections are to be held on 20 November for 288 assembly seats in Maharashtra. In such a situation, the leaders of the Maha Vikas Aghadi are insisting on conducting a caste census after coming to power in the state. Targeting the opposition in this regard, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has questioned the MVA leaders that why casteism is seen only at the time of elections.
There is a need for a society based on humanity, rising above caste, creed, religion
Actually, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari had reached Satna to address a public meeting in support of Mahayuti candidate Dilip Borse in the Baglan assembly constituency. During this, he raised an important question and said that “When people share food with people of different castes or get treatment from a doctor, they do not think about caste. Then why does caste become important at the time of elections?” Gadkari further said that “A person is identified not by his caste but by his qualities. We should eliminate untouchability and casteism in society and establish social and economic equality on the basis of humanity. We should rise above caste, creed and religion and create a society that runs on the basis of humanity.”
Appeal to take advantage of the schemes of the Congress
Accusing the Congress of spreading fear of the BJP among the minority community, he said that “Is it written in any scheme that Dalits and Muslims are not allowed to apply? Certainly, by raising this question, he tried to tell everyone that everyone is getting the benefit of the government schemes, no matter which caste or religion he belongs to.” He appealed to the people to take advantage of these schemes and contribute to the development of the country by using their votes.

Government schemes are for everyone
While addressing the public meeting, Gadkari said that “There are 68 schemes of the central and state government, which include Ujjwala, Ayushman Bharat, Ladki Behen Yojana and many others. Of course, crores of women are getting benefits from these schemes. These schemes are for every section of the society and their aim is to promote equality and development in the society.” Obviously, it is clear from his statement that ‘government schemes are for everyone and people of any caste or religion cannot be stopped from taking advantage of it.’
