The Congress leaders insisted that they contest as many seats as possible in Maharashtra, but by avoiding the mistakes made in Haryana. The Congress wants to contest at least 110 seats in Maharashtra but is unable to form an alliance with the Shiv Sena (UBT) in some seats. Muslim-dominated seats
According to media reports, the biggest tussle between the Congress and the Shiv Sena (UBT) is on Muslim-dominated seats. Uddhav Thackeray‘s party wants to field candidates in some Muslim-dominated seats, including central Mumbai, while the Congress wants to retain these seats as its strongholds. The Congress high command is trying to resolve the issue. It also directed its leaders in Maharashtra to reach out to various committees for campaigning.
