The political battle is veering violently as the dates of the Maharashtra Assembly elections approach. On one side, attacks on leaders have become more common, while on the other, party and opposition leaders have been using nasty rhetoric. Attacks against opposition and ruling party leaders have occurred over the past few days. These events provided the opposition with chances to challenge the state’s law and order status. The ruling party claims that the opposition is purposefully trying to cause disturbance of the state’s tranquility.
Attacks on NCP MLA Amol Mitkari’s car in Akola last month led to the assignment of guilt to MNS officials. Likewise, Mumbai saw attacks on Jitendra Awhad, the NCP leader for the Sharad Pawar faction. Employees of the Swaraj Organization were accused of these attacks. Fortunately, both leaders narrowly escaped the strikes. Authorities accused both of these leaders of fabricating comments that were derogatory to the workers who attacked.
The intensity of the war of words is also lessened.
Political analysts claim that Maharashtra’s political landscape has changed from past times. The political climate in the state has been declining ever since the BJP and Shiv Sena broke apart in 2019. Recently, headlines also featured the remarks of former Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, who had employed violent language. Anil Deshmukh even declared his support for Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, asserting that either he or Devendra Fadnavis would remain in Maharashtra. Simultaneously, the conflict among the politicians getting ready to challenge assembly-level elections has descended to a lower level.
Leaders are charging one another.
The opposition asserts that these events have completely destabilized the state’s law and order situation. Those who attempt to voice their opposition face significant risks. On the other hand, the leaders of the ruling party assert that the opposition leaders employ unscrupulous tactics with the intention of securing election success. These individuals are manipulating law and order to create the impression of danger in the state, thereby frightening the people. However, we will not allow this to happen.
