The assembly elections for Jammu and Kashmir have been announced. Voting will be held on 18 September, 25 September, and 1 October for 90 seats here. As soon as the election bugle sounded, all the parties had started their preparations. The assembly elections being held here after 10 years are going to be a litmus test for the BJP. Therefore, the BJP is busy making a special strategy. It is being said that to win maximum seats in Jammu and Kashmir, the BJP is considering fielding candidates belonging to non-political families. These will be in the age group of 25 to 40. For the selection of such candidates, the BJP will appoint an in-charge in every assembly.
Special preference will be given to youth related to sports and art-culture.
According to media reports, the BJP will soon assign the responsibility of preparing a panel of candidates to one of its senior leaders. After which a list of two-four such young candidates will be prepared from all the assemblies who do not have a political background. In this list, the BJP will give special priority to the youth associated with sports and art-culture. According to BJP sources, the party has already prepared a list of such youth in the Kashmir Valley who have played a big role in connecting the general public with the schemes of the central government.
A lot has changed in Jammu and Kashmir in 10 years.
Let us tell you that the last assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir were held in 2014. After the fall of the government on 20 December 2018, President’s rule was imposed here. Then in 2019, Article 370 was removed. After which, assembly elections are going to be held here for the first time. A lot has changed here in 10 years from 2014 to 2024. There are a total of 95 seats in Jammu and Kashmir. In the 2014 assembly elections, there were 87 seats in Jammu and Kashmir. This included 4 seats from Ladakh. After delimitation, the seats of Ladakh have been removed, and the number has become 90. Out of which 43 are in Jammu division and 47 in Kashmir division. Ladakh has been separated and has now become a union territory. After delimitation, 7 new assembly seats have increased in the state, out of which 6 are in Jammu and 1 in Kashmir division. Apart from this, the governor will also have the right to nominate 5 members. In this way, there are a total of 95 seats in Jammu and Kashmir.
