A fire suddenly broke out in the NICU (Child ward) located on the ground floor at around 10:30 pm on Friday night in Jhansi Medical College, in UP. Let us tell you that seriously ill children were admitted here. The fire was so terrible that 10 children died in this fire. During this, about 37 children were taken out. It is being said that at the time of the accident, 50 to 55 children were admitted in the ward. After the incident, the family kept wandering from door to door in search of their children, but nothing could be found. The weeping family kept begging to see the faces of their children, but no one listened.
Rescue could not be done due to smoke
After the fire incident, there was a stampede in the hospital. The firefighters who arrived on the information could not find any way to go inside. In such a situation, they broke the glass of the window and reached the ward and controlled the fire. It is being said that there was only one way for entry and exit of both the wards, in which rescue could not be done due to smoke. Hospital employees say that “the fire started due to a short circuit. As soon as the fire broke out, all the children of NICU were taken out.” At the same time, eyewitnesses say that “If the fire alarm installed in the NICU ward had rung, then the lives of all the innocent could have been saved. The accident was so painful that even telling it makes the soul tremble. In a few minutes, the fire spread to other wards as well and seeing smoke coming out in other wards, the patients were shifted to another place.”
The alarm did not ring due to lack of maintenance in time
According to the information, fire alarm systems were installed in the medical college, but due to lack of maintenance, the alarm did not ring. If the alarms were correct, more children could have been saved. Eyewitnesses say that “a nurse came and told us that a fire had broken out in a children’s ward, after which we reached there. There were only three nurses there, no doctor. That is why more deaths occurred.” It is also being said that it was a blessing that it did not happen on the second floor. There is a SNCU ward there. It has two units, one inside and the other outside. More children were admitted there. After the fire broke out there, it would have been difficult to take the children out. The children admitted here could not be taken out.

Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak said that “A fire safety audit was done in February. A mock drill was also done in June. Then how and why this accident happened, something can be said about this only after the investigation report comes.” Well, in the meantime, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has issued orders to the administration to provide financial help to the affected families. He has asked to provide immediate assistance of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of the deceased children and Rs 50,000 each to the seriously injured.
