Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar is on a three-day visit to Jammu-Kashmir. The team will hold discussions with all political parties at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Auditorium to get their feedback, the report said. The three-day visit of the members of the Election Commission will conclude in Jammu on August 10, after which they will hold a review meeting with the poll agencies.
All invited parties attended the meeting. The Congress, the BJP, the National Conference, and the Peoples Democratic Party are among the minor and local parties that the Election Commission has extended invitations to attend the conference on August 9. During our meeting with all parties, we will assess the election preparations.
The Supreme Court had given the Election Commission time till September 30. The Election Commission of India (ECI) is reviewing the preparations ahead of the assembly elections. People perceive this visit as a significant step in determining the forthcoming elections in Jammu-Kashmir.
After visiting Jammu-Kashmir, the Election Commission is likely to visit Maharashtra on August 12 and Haryana on August 13. The Maharashtra and Haryana assemblies end their terms in November. At the same time, the Jharkhand Assembly’s term ends in January. In these states, the Election Commission will soon announce the dates for the assembly elections.
