The dispute of Mathura’s Shahi Idgah and Varanasi’s Gyanvapi Masjid was still going on in the court, meanwhile the Hindu parties have claimed that the Jama Masjid of Sambhal is also a temple. Let us tell you that a controversy has arisen once again regarding the Jama Masjid of Sambhal. The Hindu side claims that this mosque used to be a Harihar temple earlier, which was later demolished and a mosque was built. And to strengthen this claim, the Hindu side is also citing an ASI report of 1879. However, after the court order, a survey of this mosque of Sambhal has also been done, after which communal politics has once again heated up in the state. The Hindu side is claiming that the Jama Masjid was an ancient Harihar temple, where Kalki, one of the ten incarnations of Vishnu, is going to be incarnated in Kaliyuga. On the other hand, the Muslim side is rejecting this claim outright.
Jama Masjid was not built during Mughal period
It is worth noting that Jama Masjid of Sambhal district was claimed many times earlier that it is a Hindu temple. On one hand, the Hindu side claims that Mughal emperor Babar built this mosque by demolishing the temple, while on the other hand, Muslims claim that Babar did not build this mosque. He may have renovated it, but Jama Masjid was not built during the Mughal period. It was probably built during the reign of Mohammad bin Tughlaq. People of Muslim side claim that after defeating Lodhis, Babar did come to Sambhal but he did not build any mosque here. He only renovated Jama Masjid. By the way, the big thing is that the architecture of the mosque also indicates that it is not of Mughal period.
Original Hindu inscriptions related to the temple are present
Muslims believe that the construction of this building was during the time of Emperor Babar and point to an inscription inside the mosque, in which Babar’s name is clearly written. On the contrary, Hindus claim that it is a forgery and its date is much later. They claim that the original Hindu inscriptions related to the temple are present on this slab or behind it.

The administration has imposed Section 165 of BNS
On the contrary, the Hindu side is claiming on the basis of its architecture that the mosque was built by demolishing the temple. As proof of this, an old report of ASI and Baburnama are being mentioned. The ASI report is from 1874 to 1875, which was prepared in 1879. The then ASI officer SEL Karle led this survey. This report strengthens the Hindu side’s claim that there was a temple at the place of the mosque. In such a situation, seeing the matter heating up, the administration has imposed Section 165 of BNS. Apart from this, police forces have been deployed at every nook and corner to avoid any kind of untoward incident.
