According to the calendar, the muhurat of Ghat Sthapna is fixed, and it should be ensured that all the members of the house are present at that time. The date of Kalash Sthapana, 3rd October, will begin at 00:18 hrs. This date will remain till 2:58 am on October 4. Happy moment On the first day of Navratri, two auspicious muhurats are formed for the installation of the Kalash. The first shubh muhurat is from 6:15 am to 7:22 am, which will give 1 hour and 6 minutes for that installation. Apart from this, the muhurat of Kalash Sthapana in the afternoon can be done at any time between 11:46 and 12:33. During this time, you will get 47 minutes of auspicious time.

The materials that are required for the installation are earthen pot or copper kalash, Holy water (Ganga jal or clean water), Mango leaves, Areca nut, Coconut, Red cloth, Roli and Mauli (Kalava), Rice and vermilion, Saptadanya (seven kinds of grains), Durva grass.

Method of Installation:

  1. The choice of location: First of all, choose a clean place for the installation of the urn. The place of worship should be holy, and there should be no negative energy. There should not be any disturbance near the place of worship.
  2. Laying of soil: Before installing the Kalash, sprinkle Ganga water at the place of worship. Then add rice, wheat, dal, pulses, and spices to it. It is considered a symbol of purity and fertility.
  3. Installation of Kalash: Place a copper or clay urn on top of the soil. Fill the bowl with clean water. Place the mango leaves around the kalash in such a way that they keep leaning towards the outside. Place a betel nut and coconut on top of the kalash. Wrap a red cloth on the coconut and tie the mauli.
  4. Swastik Symbol: Make a mark of Swastik with roli or sindoor on the Kalash. Swastika is a symbol of auspiciousness and success.

  After the installation of the Kalash, chant the mantras of Goddess Durga. Invite the goddess with mantras and request her to reside in the house.

Rules of Kalash Sthapana

  1. Observance of purity: Before installing the kalash, it is necessary to cleanse yourself and take a bath. The purity of the place of worship and the person worshipping is extremely important.
