Hemant Soren took oath as the 14th Chief Minister of Jharkhand today at Morhabadi ground in Ranchi. Hemant Soren has taken oath for the fourth time as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand. Congress president Rahul Gandhi, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and other senior leaders of the party attended the ceremony. Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar administered the oath of office and secrecy to Hemant Soren. In the 2024 Jharkhand Assembly elections, Hemant Soren won the Barhait seat by defeating BJP candidate Gamaliel Hembram by 39,791 votes.
The alliance with the JMM secured 56 of the total 81 seats in the assembly polls, retaining their majority, while the BJP-led NDA got 24 seats. Posters of the oath-taking ceremony were also put up all over Ranchi. Meanwhile, security has been tightened in the capital city.

All these leaders attended the swearing-in ceremony. Congress Jharkhand in-charge and party’s general secretary Ghulam Ahmad Mir said only Hemant Soren will take oath today and the cabinet will be expanded after the trust vote in the assembly.
