Former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh has died. He was rushed to AIIMS in Delhi where doctors declared him dead. Manmohan Singh passed away at the age of 92. Dr. Manmohan Singh’s health had been deteriorating for the past several years. He had a second bypass surgery in 2006, after which he faced health problems. On Thursday, he was admitted to AIIMS due to breathlessness and restlessness, but despite all the efforts of the doctors, he passed away. He was born on 26 September 1932 in Gah, West Punjab (now in Pakistan). 

Dr. Manmohan Singh was the Prime Minister of India from 2004 to 2014. As a renowned economist, he is counted among the most influential leaders of the country. He was educated at Punjab University, Cambridge University, and Oxford University. A doctorate in economics, Dr Singh will always be remembered for his simple and calm nature. 

In 1987, Dr. Manmohan Singh was awarded the Padma Vibhushan for his contribution. In addition, he was awarded the Order of King Abdulaziz by Saudi Arabia in 2010 and the Order of the Polonia Flowers by Japan in 2014. Recently, the Namdhari Sangat Seva Samiti, an organisation of the Sikh community, had appealed to the Indian government to confer the Bharat Ratna on him.

Dr. Ramakant Panda was called from Mumbai for his second bypass surgery. During the Corona period, he also suffered from Covid infection, after which his respiratory problems increased. At around 8 am on Thursday, he was admitted to the emergency room of AIIMS, where he breathed his last after half an hour. 

Dr Manmohan Singh was the first Prime Minister of India to head the Planning Commission. In his death, the country has lost a great leader and economist.
