Indian National Lok Dal chief and former Haryana Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala died at the age of 89. He breathed his last at his residence in Gurugram. According to the information, OP Chautala had been living in Gurugram for some time. During this time, he was brought to Gurugram’s Mandata Hospital around 11:30 am on Friday and here he breathed his last after 12 noon. However, he was healthy.
Om Prakash Chautala was the eldest son of former Deputy Prime Minister of India Devi Lal
Born on 1 January 1935 in Chautala village of Dabwali, Sirsa, Haryana, Om Prakash Chautala was the eldest son of former Deputy Prime Minister of India Devi Lal. He was born in a Jat family of Sihag gotra. He was the CM of Haryana five times. Chautala became the Chief Minister for the first time on 2 December 1989 and remained in this post till 22 May 1990. Chautala took oath as Chief Minister for the second time on 12 July 1990 after removing the then Chief Minister Banarasi Das Gupta from the post within two months. However, he had to resign from this post only five days later. After this, he took charge as CM for the third time on 22 April 1991, but after two weeks the central government imposed President’s rule in the state.

Chautala’s party is out of power since 2004
Let us tell you that after the 1996 Lok Sabha elections, he formed a new party by the name of Haryana Lok Dal (National). Then in the year 1998, in the mid-term elections of Lok Sabha, he won five Lok Sabha seats in Haryana by forming an alliance with BSP. After this, his party got recognition. Then he changed the name of his party to Indian National Lok Dal (INLD). Meanwhile, on 24 July 1999, Chautala took the post of CM for the fourth time and in December 1999 he got the assembly dissolved. Then after the assembly elections, he became the Chief Minister for the fifth time on 2 March 2000. After this, he remained the Chief Minister for five years. However, INLD never formed a government in Haryana after that. Chautala’s party has been out of power since 2004. The important thing is that he was also sentenced by the court in the JBT teacher recruitment case and he was in jail. However, the entire state is immersed in a wave of mourning due to the death of former Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala.
