Former Bihar MLA Gulab Yadav and senior IAS officer Sanjeev Hans have been arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with a money laundering case. The ED team arrested Gulab Yadav from a resort in Delhi, while Sanjeev Hans was arrested from his official residence in Patna. Hans is a 1997-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer. Gulab Singh was an RJD MLA.
He has earned illegal money by misusing his position
According to the statement issued by the Bihar Special Vigilance Unit (SVU) of the ED in this regard, IAS officer Sanjeev Hans has earned illegal money by misusing his position. With this money, benami properties worth crores of rupees were purchased in Mohali in Punjab and Kasauli in Himachal. Former MLAs Gulab Yadav and Sanjeev Hans are close associates. Both of them together earned illegal money and invested it in the property of other states.
The ED has so far arrested 14 people in the case
The ED said that the case was registered on September 14. Since then, the investigation is going on. The ED has named around 14 people, including Sanjeev Hans, Gulab Yadav, and their family members, as accused in its FIR. Earlier in August, the ED raided the official residence of Sanjeev Hans. After this, the state government transferred Hans to the General Administration Department. The ED also carried out searches at multiple locations in Bihar, Delhi, and Pune.
He was also accused of rape
Senior IAS officer Sanjiv Hans and former MLA Gulab Singh have a long-standing relationship with controversies. The two are very popular in Bihar. Recently, a woman from Bihar had accused Sanjeev Hans of raping her. The woman had also accused former MLA Gulab Yadav of raping her. The allegations have triggered a political storm in the state. Patna Police has launched an investigation into the case.
