Soon after Freeland’s resignation, Dominic LeBlanc was appointed as the new finance minister. LeBlanc, who previously served as minister of public security, will take over the finance ministry at this difficult time. Canada is currently facing a $62 billion fiscal deficit.

Following Freeland’s resignation, New Democratic Party (NDP) leader Jagmeet Singh hit out at Trudeau and demanded his resignation. Along with Jagmeet Singh, 23 MPs have also written a letter demanding Trudeau’s resignation.
