Police has started arresting the accused in the case of the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj falling on Rajkot Fort in Sindhudurg. Sindhudurg Police had registered an FIR in this incident and made contractor Jaydeep Apte and structural consultant Chetan Patil accused. Out of which accused Chetan Patil was arrested by the Crime Branch of Kolhapur Police last night. At the same time, several police teams are continuously conducting raids to arrest the second accused Jaydeep Apte. Apte has been absconding since the incident.
Demolition of the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj
Let us tell you that the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj located in Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra was demolished. While there is anger among the common people about this incident, the opposition is also trying to corner the Shinde government by linking it to the insult of Shivaji Maharaj. The state government, surrounded from all sides, has formed a technical joint team to investigate the entire incident. It includes experts, civil engineers along with representatives of IIT and Navy. This team will find out the reasons for the fall of the statue.
Shinde government sought suggestions from experts
This grand statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was installed by the Maharashtra government in accordance with his achievements. This statue was unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in December 2023. Due to which the opposition is cornering Modi along with the Maharashtra government over the fall of the statue. At the same time, as the controversy escalated, now Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has again directed to install a grand statue at the same place. To suggest the design of the statue, the state government has also sought suggestions from JJ School of Arts, IIT, civil engineers along with famous sculptors.

CM Shinde, while giving a statement after this incident, said, this incident is very unfortunate. It is justified for the supporters of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to be angry with this. We will now have to be very careful so that such incidents do not happen again in the future.
The Chief Minister said that a second grand statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj will be built. Also, strict action will be taken against those responsible for demolishing this statue as per the law.
