BPSCControversy: So that’s why there is a ruckus, know what is the whole controversy of BPSC in Bihar?

Young students are protesting on the streets in the midst of severe cold in Bihar. The demand to cancel the 70th Combined Preliminary Examination of Bihar Public Service Commission, which was held on 13 December 2024, is getting stronger. There is a ruckus (BPSCControversy) regarding the BPSC exam. Students are demanding to cancel the entire examination and conduct the examination again. The students demand that the normalization process be made transparent and its mathematical model be made public. In fact, due to delay in distribution of question papers and allegations of paper leak in the examination held at Bapu Auditorium in Patna, the examinees created a ruckus and took to the streets to protest. The students allege that “there have been irregularities in the examination. The question papers were substandard. Some questions matched the model question papers of private coaching institutes.” In this way the students are demanding to cancel the entire examination and conduct it again. Meanwhile, lathicharge has been done several times by the police to control the crowd of students.

BPSC (BPSCControversy) did not use normalization properly – Students

Meanwhile, BPSC rejected the allegations of the students and said that “the examination was transparent and fair.” He has appealed to the students to prepare for the main examination. Apart from this, the state government has said that “if anyone has evidence of irregularities, they should submit it, the government will take appropriate action.” Overall, the point is that the students are agitating against normalization. Students allege that BPSC did not use normalization properly. Due to this, students involved in less difficult shifts got unfair advantage and students involved in difficult shifts have suffered. Due to normalization, the cut-off marks were affected, due to which many candidates are angry. They claim that “their selection was affected by this process, whereas their hard work and performance was better.” Let us tell you that normalization is a statistical process, which is used in examinations which are held in different shifts. Its main objective is to ensure that no candidate is treated unfairly due to the possible difference in the difficulty level of question papers of different shifts.

Only statistical data is used in the normalization process

However, the purpose of normalization is to ensure fairness. But sometimes it becomes a cause of controversy due to not following the correct procedure. Let us tell you that only statistical data is used in the normalization process, while aspects like personal hard work of the students, circumstances of the exam day are ignored. Meanwhile, the big thing is that along with the students who appeared in the examination, other students are also participating in this movement. The candidates say that “this process is injustice to their hard work and performance.” According to the information, many student organizations are agitating on this issue (BPSCControversy). Students of organizations like AISA and ABVP are actively participating in this movement. Even the students are getting support from many opposition parties. Apart from this, some educational experts and coaching institutes have also come out in support of the students in this dispute.

On this dispute (BPSCControversy), the Chief Secretary of Bihar called a delegation of students to meet him.

On Sunday evening, the students were protesting at JP Golambar Chowk regarding their demands (BPSCControversy). The police forcibly removed the protesting students from there. The police first lathicharged the students to remove them and later also sprayed water on them from water cannon. Meanwhile, to control the violent crowd of students, an FIR has been registered in Gandhi Maidan police station of Patna against 21 people including Jansuraj founder Prashant Kishore and the party’s state president Manoj Bharti. They are accused of inciting the students and creating a ruckus. In the registered FIR, 21 named and 600 to 700 unknown people have been made accused. Well, meanwhile, the Chief Secretary of Bihar has called a delegation of five students to meet him. The students say that “if no conclusion is reached in the talks, then tomorrow they will decide what will be the strategy now.” Actually, the students marching from Gandhi Maidan to CM residence wanted to meet Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and put their demands in front of him.
