BJP’s celebrity face joins Shiv Sena to contest from Mumbadevi: Know the political angle behind it

The counting of votes for the assembly elections in Maharashtra continues. BJP spokesperson and fashion designer Shaina NC has quit the party to join Shinde’s Shiv Sena and contest from the seat. Shaina NC was considered a strong spokesperson of the BJP. He had direct access to all the big leaders of the BJP, including PM Modi, but even after this, his leaving the BJP and joining the Shiv Sena has surprised everyone.

After getting the ticket, Shaina NC left the BJP and joined Shiv Sena

Speaking to the media after getting the Shiv Sena ticket, Shaina NC said, “Our Mahayuti alliance has given me an opportunity to serve the people of Mumbadevi; I will fulfill this responsibility very well. Earlier, there was talk of Shaina NC contesting against Aaditya Thackeray from the Worli seat, but Shiv Sena fielded Milind Deora from here. Hours after getting the ticket from Mumbadevi, Shaina NC quit the BJP and joined the Shiv Sena.

Will be available and accountable to citizens, says Shaina

After getting the ticket from Shiv Sena, Shaina NC said, “I don’t just want to be an MLA from Mumbadevi; I want to be the voice of the people here. I believe that being a public representative is the collective consciousness of the administration, the legislature, and the citizens, which helps in delivering better public service. I want to tell the people of Mumbadevi that I don’t have any PA; I answer all the phone calls myself. I will always be available and accountable to my citizens.”

The Mumbadevi seat has been held by the Congress since 2009

Amin Patel is the sitting MLA from Mumbadevi. He has been winning from here continuously since 2009, and his image has been among the good MLAs of Maharashtra. Earlier, BJP leader Raj K. Purohit was also an MLA from Mumbadevi from 1990 to 2009. Looking at the political equation, Shiv Sena has never won from this seat. The seat is currently held by the BJP and the Congress. Muslims constitute about 45 percent of the electorate. In such a situation, it will be interesting to see whether Shaina NC can put the Mumbadevi seat in the hands of the Shiv Sena this time.
