Giving a chance to new faces in Jammu-Kashmir assembly elections is proving to be costly for BJP.
BJP Revises Candidate List
After the controversy over the names of the candidates, BJP has changed its list thrice so far. BJP has released the names of 29 candidates in its third list. In this list, the names of 10 candidates of the second phase and 19 candidates of the third phase have been included again. Meaning, BJP has repeated 28 names from its old list in this list. Only Rohit Dubey’s ticket has been cut from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi seat. Baldev Raj Sharma has been given the ticket in his place.
BJP will not bow down to any pressure
Let us tell you that BJP released its first list on the morning of 26 August. In this, the names of 44 candidates were announced, but after the list was released, the workers started protesting. Due to which BJP withdrew its first list and released the second list in 2 hours. In this, 15 candidates were announced. Three hours later, the name of another candidate was included in the list. However, now by repeating the names of the candidates, BJP wants to send a message to the workers that it will not bow down to any pressure.
BJP will not come under pressure from angry leaders
BJP has made it clear to its angry leaders and their supporters that it will field only new faces in the election field. The elderly leaders of Jammu and Kashmir will now have to play the role of guides. On the other hand, the protest of the supporters of the leaders angry with the ticket being cut is still going on. These workers are still protesting at the Jammu headquarters, Udhampur, Samba and Kathua offices to get a ticket for their leader. It is also being said that after the ticket being cut, some BJP leaders can contest the election as independents. This can increase the difficulties of BJP.
Voting held in 3 phases
Let us tell you that voting will be held in 3 phases between 18 September and 1 October for 90 assembly seats of Jammu and Kashmir. The election results will be announced on 4 October 2024. To form the government, any party will have to cross the majority figure of 46.
