BJP, which won the election battle of Maharashtra by raising the slogan ek rahenge ro safe rahenge (If we stay united, we will be safe) batenge to katenge ( if we divide, we will be cut off), has not been able to officially announce the name of the Chief Minister even after 11 days. The interesting thing is that BJP, which teaches the people the lesson of unity, is not able to resolve the differences among its alliance partners. It is amazing that the suspense regarding the name of the Chief Minister in Maharashtra still continues. Even after getting three-fourth majority, forming the government is still a tough task. Looking at the majority of BJP, one thing is certain that Devendra Fadnavis is in no mood to make Shinde the Chief Minister under any circumstances.
Shinde has been keeping distance from the meeting since the meeting in Delhi
The important thing to note is that ever since the Mahayuti meeting with Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi, Eknath Shinde has been avoiding the meeting by making one excuse or the other. Shinde, who has unwavering faith in Amit Shah and PM Modi, has not lost his desire for the post of Chief Minister. In case of not getting the post of Chief Minister, Shiv Sena is not ready to compromise on the demand for the Home Department to any extent. The reason is that before every meeting, the Chief Minister sometimes goes to the village and sometimes his health deteriorates. Overall, he is giving an invisible message to the BJP that nothing less than this will be acceptable.
Devendra Fadnavis is a strong contender for the post of Chief Minister
Meanwhile, the matter again comes back to the same point: why is BJP giving so much importance to Eknath Shinde? Whereas with the majority it has received, BJP is capable of forming the government on its own. According to media reports, Devendra Fadnavis’ name is leading in the race for the post of CM in Maharashtra. However, Eknath Shinde is also the strongest contender for this post. Looking at the situation of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, it seems that perhaps in Maharashtra too, the command of the state may be handed over to a Maratha face. This is because in BJP, the name of the person whose name is most discussed for any post is never chosen. Even though Devendra Fadnavis’ name is ahead, it has not been officially announced yet.

BJP may lose the Maratha community
Devendra Fadnavis is capable of becoming the Chief Minister. This cannot be denied, but his being a Brahmin is becoming an obstacle somewhere. This is because most of the winning MLAs in Maharashtra are from the Maratha community. They would like only a Maratha to become the Chief Minister of the state. Another reason is that BJP does not want to take any risk regarding Eknath Shinde. There is also a fear that as soon as a Brahmin becomes the Chief Minister, the demand for Maratha reservation in Maharashtra may intensify. Manoj Jarange Patil can once again intensify the demand for Maratha reservation. In such a situation, the possibility of this may be less in the case of Eknath Shinde. If Eknath Shinde does not support BJP, then BJP may have to lose the Maratha community as well, which can be a costly deal for the party.
It is impossible to win the BMC election without Eknath Shinde
BJP’s next target is to win the Mumbai Municipal Corporation, which has more money than many states. Elections have not been held here for many years. Therefore, this is also a big reason to keep Eknath Shinde, because BJP will try its best to win the BMC election in any case. If seen, Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena has occupied the BMC for the last three decades. In such a situation, without Shinde’s support, BJP will not be able to win on its own. Let us tell you that there are a total of 36 assembly seats in Mumbai. Out of which 22 seats have been won by Mahayuti and 14 seats have been won by Mahavikas Aghadi.
