On the last day of Maharashtra assembly election campaign, former Home Minister and Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) leader Anil Deshmukh’s car was pelted with stones. He has suffered serious injuries in this attack. Actually, this attack happened when he was returning to Katol at around 8 pm after addressing a public meeting in Narkhed village, when some unknown persons started pelting stones at his car. He was admitted to a private hospital immediately after the stone pelting. Seeing the seriousness of the matter, Nagpur Police has registered a case against four unknown persons. After the incident, NCP has demanded a high-level inquiry into this ruckus on the last day of Maharashtra assembly election campaign.

Political opponents had realised their defeat

Strongly condemning the incident, NCP spokesperson Vedprakash Arya demanded a high-level inquiry into the matter and police protection for Deshmukh’s family. Meanwhile, he said that “Some people attacked Anil Deshmukh’s car in Belphata Bishnur of Katol, due to which he suffered serious head injuries.” He claimed that “his political opponents had realised their defeat, so they resorted to such a cowardly attack.” Let us tell you that in this election, Anil Deshmukh’s son Salil Deshmukh is contesting from Katol assembly constituency on an NCP ticket. He is pitted against BJP’s Charan Singh Thakur.

A case has been registered against four unknown persons

Nagpur’s Rural Superintendent of Police (SP) Harsh Poddar said regarding the stone pelting on Monday night that “Taking serious cognizance of this matter, a case has been registered against four unknown persons on charges of attempted murder. The forensic team has been sent to the spot to collect technical evidence. According to the police, “Some unidentified persons started pelting stones on Anil Deshmukh’s car near Belphata on Jalalkheda Road near Katol. He was badly injured in this attack. He was immediately taken to Katol Civil Hospital. Later, he was admitted to a private hospital.”
