Is Ajmer Sharif Dargah a Shiva temple?
According to media reports, Hindu Sena chief Vishnu Gupta has filed a petition demanding a survey of the Dargah. It has been claimed before the court that the tomb of Dargah Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti was actually a Shiva temple. Vishnu Gupta claimed that “the structure of Ajmer was built by demolishing Hindu and Jain temples.” He further said that “Chishti sahab was not born here and he was not from here. So, who was here before him? Prithviraj Chauhan. This city was known as Ajaymeru.” On this matter, he said that “Ajmer Sharif Dargah also has a temple ‘like Kashi and Mathura’.” At the same time, Syed Sarwar Chishti of the Dargah has said that “this case has been registered to create hatred towards the Muslim community.”
