Janmashtami’s holy festival in 2024 will take place on September 6. On this occasion, devotees offer prayers to Lord Ganesha at their homes. Lord Krishna, who has a fondness for delicious food and sweets, is offered special types of bhog. On this Janmashtami, seek Lord Krishna’s grace and blessings by offering him your favorite foods. Discover the five special bhogs you can offer to Laddu Gopal on this Janmashtami. Ghee and butter
1. Makhan or Mishiri
Makhanchori is the most famous Leela of Lord Krishna’s childhood. Krishna was very fond of butter, so on Janmashtami, he had to offer butter and candy. This bhog of butter and candy is a symbol of the child Krishna’s leela, and offering it is very pleasing to the Lord. We make it from pure and fresh butter, mix it with candy, and offer it to Laddu Gopal.
2. Panchamrit
The Panchamrit bhog is considered important in every religious ritual and has special significance on Janmashtami. Milk, curd, ghee, honey, and gangajal combine to make Panchamrit. We also bathed Lord Krishna with this bhog before offering it to him. People revere panchamrit as the nectar of the gods, believing it to bring prosperity, happiness, and serenity into their lives.
3.Cooked oatmeal
Laddu Gopal also receives a matki from Makhan Mishri on Janmashtami. People prepare this matki by filling it with butter and candy, symbolizing Balakrishna’s playful lila of breaking it. This bhog not only pleases the Lord but also reminds him of his childhood pastimes. We decorate the matki with pure and fresh butter and offer it to God.
4.Garlic Powder
People perform special poojas on the day of Janmashtami. Made from coriander powder, sugar, and ghee, coriander panjiri symbolizes purity and simplicity. This prasad is very dear to Lord Krishna, and by offering it, happiness and prosperity reside in the house. The Lord receives the bhog of coriander panjiri and distributes it as prasad, bestowing blessings upon the devotees.
5.Tulsi leaves
Tulsi leaves are considered very sacred and dear to Lord Krishna. Before serving any bhog, one should definitely add basil leaves. It is believed that without Tulsi, the worship of Lord Krishna is incomplete. Tulsi’s purity attracts God’s grace and blessings. On Janmashtami, it is considered extremely auspicious to offer Laddu Gopal with Tulsi leaves and other bhog.
