Preparations are in full swing for Mahakumbh 2025 to be held at the confluence of Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati in Prayagraj. All the departments including administration and railways have made elaborate preparations for this world famous religious event starting from January 13. A huge team of workers is engaged in making this event a success. The Railways has decided to run 3,000 special trains, including 560 trains on the Ring Rail route, for the convenience of passengers.
Ticketing counters at 9 stations
North Central Railway has announced to set up 560 ticketing points at 9 major stations in and around Prayagraj. These stations include Prayagraj Junction, Naini, Prayagraj, Prayagraj Junction, Subedar, Phaphamau, Prayagraj Rambagh, Prayagraj Sangam and Jhusi. The target is to distribute about 10 lakh tickets per day from these counters. The ticket booking system is being started 15 days in advance for the convenience of the passengers.
More than 3,000 trains will run
During the Mahakumbh 2025, the Railways will run more than 3,000 special trains along with 10,000 regular trains. Apart from this, 560 trains will be run on the Ring Rail route, which will operate on major routes like Prayagraj-Ayodhya-Varanasi, Prayagraj Sangam-Jaunpur, Govindpuri-Chitrakoot and Jhansi-Prayagraj. More than 18,000 RPF and SRP personnel will be deployed to ensure the safety of passengers.
Health and safety management
At Prayagraj Junction 6-bed observation rooms have been made for passengers, where facilities like oxygen cylinders, ECG machines, nebulizers and stretchers will be available. For security, 1,186 CCTV cameras have been installed, many of which are powered by AI technology.

Special arrangements for ghats and roads
For bathing of devotees, 9 pucca ghats, 7 riverfront roads and temporary ghats are being constructed in an area of 12 km. Not only trains but 7 bus stands are also being prepared for traffic management in the city. It is clear from these extensive preparations for Mahakumbh 2025 that the administration is leaving no stone unturned to make it historic and well-organized. For devotees, this event will not only be spiritual, but also convenient.
