Ratan Tata, chairman emeritus of the Tata Group, is no more. He died at the age of 86 at the Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. The Jharkhand government has declared a one-day state of mourning
The Jharkhand government has announced a one-day state mourning over Ratan Tata’s death, while the Maharashtra government has canceled all its programs. The mortal remains of Ratan Tata will be kept at NCPA from 10 am to 3:30 pm for public viewing, Additional Commissioner, South Mumbai, Abhinav Deshmukh said. The funeral will be held in the evening. The entire country is mourning the death of Ratan Tata.
“In Shri Ratan Tata, India has lost an icon who combined corporate growth with nation-building and excellence with ethics,” President Droupadi Murmu wrote on her social media X post. He carried forward the great legacy of the Tata Group and made it more influential. He inspired experienced professionals and young students alike with his work. His contribution to society is immense. I convey my condolences to his family, members of the Tata Group, and his legion of fans all over the world.”
PM Modi pays tribute
In a social media post, PM Modi said, “Ratan Tata Ji was a visionary business leader, a kind soul, and an exceptional human being. He provided stable leadership for decades to one of India’s oldest and most reputed business houses. At the same time, he made a special place for himself among the countrymen due to his kindness, humility, and unwavering commitment.”
Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi also paid tributes to Ratan Tata and said that “Ratan Tata was a visionary man. He has left an indelible mark on both business and philanthropy. My condolences to his family and the Tata Group. Several leaders, including Amit Shah, JP Nadda, Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari, Yogi Adityanath, and Eknath Shinde, and big industrialists like Google CEO Sundar Pichai, Gautam Adani, and Anand Mahindra, were among those who paid tributes to Ratan Tata.
