Elon Musk’s company Starlink is going to enter India. Bharti Airtel and Elon Musk’s company SpaceX (Airtel SpaceX partnership) have joined hands to improve internet connectivity in India and provide super-fast internet to the customers. Under this deal, Starlink satellite internet will be launched in India. Actually, Airtel informed about this agreement in a regulatory filing on Tuesday. This is fine, but this deal is still awaiting the approval of the Government of India. It is worth noting that this agreement has come just a few weeks after the recent meeting of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Elon Musk. Let us tell you that Modi met Musk during his US visit, in which there was talk of increasing cooperation on innovation, artificial intelligence, space exploration and sustainable development. The main thing is that Elon Musk wanted to bring Starlink to India for a long time, but the matter was stuck due to regulatory challenges and opposition from domestic telecom giants like Reliance Jio. Not only this, in November 2022, Indian Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said that “Starlink has not complied with the security rules, due to which its satellite communication license is on hold.” Needless to say, India is a big market, where about 40 percent of the 1.4 billion people still do not have internet.

On the agreement with Elon Musk’s company Starlink (Airtel SpaceX partnership), Airtel Vice Chairman Gopal Vittal says that “Working with SpaceX in India is an important milestone. It shows the company’s commitment to next-generation satellite connectivity.” This partnership will give us the ability to deliver high-speed broadband even in the most remote areas of India. Starlink will make Airtel’s products better so that every Indian can get cheap and reliable internet. On this deal, SpaceX President Gwyn Shotwell said that “We are excited to work with Airtel to bring the transformative impact of Starlink to the people of India. The Airtel team has played an important role in India’s telecom sector, so working with them is the right step for us.”

SpaceX is yet to get a license from the Indian Authority (Airtel SpaceX partnership)
Even though Elon Musk’s company Starlink is going to enter India, SpaceX is yet to get a license from the Indian Authority.
