Farmers are adamant on marching to Delhi on the Haryana-Punjab border for various demands including MSP guarantee law. On one hand, Jagjit Singh Dallewal, leader of the Joint Farmers Front at Khanauri border, has been on an indefinite hunger strike for the last 35 days, while on the other hand, farmer Sarwan Singh Pandher is standing with the farmers at Shambhu border. Let us tell you that both the farmer leaders are protesting at different places for the same demand. Due to which the police is on high alert in the whole of Punjab due to the bandh these days. The reason is that Haryana Police has diverted the Delhi Chandigarh route. Actually, Punjab is closed today in support of Dallewal. According to the information received, buses, trains, autos and taxis will not run till 4 pm. Even the bandh has been openly supported by employees, traders, religious and social organizations and groups.

Our plan was to do Satyagraha in a Gandhian way
Let us tell you that before the shutdown, farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal himself came live on social media and said that “Punjab government is trying to crush the farmers’ movement.” The farmer leader said that “When we started the hunger strike, we had a plan to do Satyagraha in a Gandhian way. Our movement is going on the same path, the British government also respected the Satyagraha, but the Punjab government is going to adopt a repressive policy against the movement at the behest of the central government.” Meanwhile, he has appealed to more and more farmers to reach the front, so that the movement can be played. According to media reports, farmers closed the highways at 7 am. Farmers have sat on Amritsar-Delhi and Jalandhar-Delhi National Highway. Along with this, buses have also stopped. Due to the shutdown, 52 trains have been canceled in the state. Apart from this, the routes of 22 trains have been changed. The big thing is that markets and institutions will also remain closed during this period. Employees, traders, religious and social organizations and groups have supported this farmers’ strike.
Supreme Court concerned about Dallewal’s hunger strike and poor health
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has expressed concern over farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal’s hunger strike, his age and poor health. During the hearing, the Supreme Court ordered the Punjab government, saying that “he should be taken care of at any cost. Also, he should be persuaded and admitted to a temporary hospital as soon as possible.” After this order of the Supreme Court, a meeting of the representatives of the Punjab government was held, but the meeting remained inconclusive. The next hearing of the case in the Supreme Court will now be held on December 31.
