A heart-wrenching incident has been reported from Pune, Maharashtra, where a dumper ran over 9 people sleeping on the pavement. Three people, including two children, died in the crash. Six people were injured, three of them seriously. The injured have been admitted to Sassoon Hospital.
The accident took place around 12:30 pm near Kesnand Naka, which is not far from the police station. Police have arrested the dumper driver. During initial investigation, it was found that the accused was drunk. The deceased have been identified as Vishal Vinod Pawar, Vaibhavi Ritesh Pawar and Vaibhav Ritesh Pawar.
All the victims were labourers and had come to Pune from Amravati on the night of December 22 for work. A total of 12 people were sleeping on the footpath, and the rest were sleeping in a hut near the footpath. The dumper went straight onto the footpath and ran over the sleeping people.

After the incident, neighbours reached the spot and intimated police. Police have arrested the driver. According to Himmat Jadhav, DCP Zone 4, Pune City Police, a case has been registered against the accused driver under the Motor Vehicles Act and the Indian Penal Code.
Earlier this month, two youths were killed and two others seriously injured in a road accident in Indapur tehsil of Pune. The incident took place when the car in which four people were travelling from Baramati to Bhigwan met with an accident. According to reports, the driver lost control of the vehicle.
