The statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, installed at Rajkot Fort in Malvan, Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra, fell down shortly after its unveiling. After this incident, there was a lot of uproar in the politics of the state. Many allegations were made against the then government regarding this incident. After facing criticism from all sides, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde had announced to install an even bigger statue at that time. According to media reports, now the work of making a new statue is going to start to be installed in the same fort of Rajkot. According to the information received, this time this work has been given to the firm of famous sculptor Anil Ram Sutar. Anil Sutar himself confirmed this. Let us tell you that this firm itself had built the Statue of Unity. The government has approved Rs 20 crore for this project.
The work of making the statue has been given for 20.95 crores
In December 2023, PM Modi unveiled the 35-foot statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at Rajkot Fort. About seven months after the unveiling, i.e. in the month of August, the statue of Maharaj collapsed. Just a month after which the PWD had issued a tender to build a new 60-foot high statue at an estimated cost of Rs 20 crore. After issuing the tender, many applications were received. Then on the basis of quotation, the work of making the statue was given to Ram Sutar’s firm. His firm has been given this work for 20.95 crores. According to the condition, he will have to complete the work of the statue in 6 months.

The entire work of the statue will be done under the supervision of IIT Bombay
Let us tell you that many companies had applied for the work of this statue. In which the most expensive quotation was of the Sutar firm itself. He had told the estimated cost of the statue to be around Rs 36 crore. It is worth noting that even after placing the most expensive bid, he was given the work. The height of the statue that was installed earlier was 35 feet, the statue that is being constructed now will be around 60 feet. According to the information, the statue will have a 100-year guarantee for its strength. According to the new tender conditions, after installing the statue, the Sutar firm will have to maintain it for 10 years. Currently, the Sutar firm has made a 3-foot fiber model. Approval will be given only after viewing it. The entire work of this statue will be done under the supervision of IIT Bombay.
