Syrian rebels have seized the capital Damascus and the palace of President Bashar al-Assad. 59-year-old President Bashar al-Assad has fled war-torn Syria and moved to Russia’s capital Moscow, where he has been granted asylum. Meanwhile, the US has carried out several air strikes on Islamic State (ISIS) targets in Syria during the rebel occupation.
U.S. action against ISIS According to U.S. Central Command, their security forces carried out dozens of airstrikes on ISIS targets in central Syria on Sunday. The aim of these attacks is to stop the growing influence of the Islamic State and put an end to their activities.
The operation involved Air Force aircraft such as B-52s, F-15s and A-10s, which struck more than 70 targets. The US has made it clear that it will continue to take such actions to prevent the growing influence of ISIS.

“We will not allow ISIS to regroup in Syria,” US General Michael Eric Kuryla said.
