Soon Indian Railways is preparing to launch a train running on hydrogen. Along with this, Indian Railways is taking steps towards achieving another big achievement. According to the information, soon the trial of this train will be held between Jind and Sonipat railway stations in Haryana. Talking about the design of this hydrogen train, its design has been developed by the Research, Design and Standards Organization (RDSO) of Railways. The design was finalized in December 2021. Since then work has been going on continuously. The final trial of this train is reported to be held in the first quarter of next year.
Features of hydrogen train

- About 2,638 passengers will be able to travel in this train at a time
- The maximum speed of this train will be 110 km/h
- Three coaches of this train will be for hydrogen cylinders, fuel cell converters, batteries and air reserve
- This hydrogen train will be environment friendly
- It will be important not only from a technical point of view but also from the point of view of environmental protection
- Its sole goal is to promote the use of green energy
- This train is considered especially suitable for short distance travel
Only one successful hydrogen train is being operated in Germany
Let us tell you that hydrogen-powered trains use electricity generated from hydrogen and oxygen fuel to run the motor. Only countries like Germany and China have worked on hydrogen fuel in rail transport. But till now only one successful hydrogen train is being operated in Germany. There are only two coaches in the train.

The name of the train has not been decided yet
According to the information, the model of this hydrogen train was displayed with the name ‘Namo Green Rail’ in the recently held International Innovative Rail Expo. On the question of the name, the officials said that “the official name will be decided at the time of launch.”
