On the special occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Constitution of India, President Droupadi Murmu released a commemorative coin and postage stamp of Rs 75 in Parliament. The historic coin was released during a ceremony held at the Central Hall of the Constituent Assembly in New Delhi. Addressing the joint sitting of both Houses of Parliament on Constitution Day, Murmu said the Constitution is a living and progressive document. The President also unveiled the first Sanskrit copy of the Constitution and its Maithili version.

President Droupadi Murmu spoke to the assembly and called the Constitution’s ratification 75 years ago a momentous occasion. She also highlighted the contribution of 15 women members of the Constituent Assembly in shaping the country.

President Murmu said that as per the Constitution, it is the duty of the executive, legislature and judiciary to work together to make the lives of the common people easier. He said that during the last few years, the Government has taken several steps for the development of all sections of the society, especially the weaker sections. Such decisions have improved the lives of the people and are giving them new opportunities for progress.
