Manipur has been battling ethnic conflict since May last year. Every day the news of ethnic violence there is making headlines in the newspapers. In view of this, the Home Ministry has taken a big action in the Manipur violence case. According to the news, the ministry has handed over the investigation of three cases related to Manipur violence to the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Now the NIA will investigate those cases, due to which people lost their lives and public order was disrupted. Officials said that “after the recent order issued by the Home Ministry, the agency has taken over these cases from the Manipur Police.”

Violence erupted after the woman’s body was recovered

Actually, this news was revealed when Union Home Minister Amit Shah cancelled all his election rallies to be held in Maharashtra on Sunday and returned to Delhi. During this, he not only reviewed the security situation in Manipur but also directed the top security officials to take every possible step to establish peace in the state. The special thing is that this step has been taken at a time when the situation remains unstable due to protests and violence after the bodies of women and children were recovered in Manipur. In fact, according to the local police, on Sunday, the body of a woman floating in the Barak river was recovered by Assam Police from the Barak river in Cachar district, which is on the border of Jiribam. Tension flared up again in Jiribam on Sunday after the picture of the dead body was circulated.”

NIA will investigate these three cases

The first case is of November 8, 2024 when it was registered in Jiribam police station in connection with the murder of a woman in Jiribam area by fully armed militants. The second case is of November 11, 2024 which was registered in Borobekra police station. In which armed militants attacked the Central Reserve Police Force outpost (A-Company, 20th Battalion) at Jakuradhor Karong and Borobekra police station of Jiribam. And the third case is related to the burning of houses and killing of a civilian in Borobekra area on November 11, 2024 in Borobekra police station.
