A long-running methamphetamine manufacturing lab has been busted in Delhi-NCR. The lab was run by a warden of Delhi’s Tihar Jail. The operation unit of the NCB had received intelligence information about this lab, after which a raid was conducted in collaboration with the Special Cell of Delhi Police. This lab was running in the Kasana Industrial Area of Gautam Budh Nagar, which was raided by the team of NCB and Delhi Police on 25 October 2024, but it was informed now.
The four accused had been arrested
During the raid, the NCB recovered around 95 kg of methamphetamine in solid and liquid form from the lab. Chemicals used in drugs like acetone, sodium hydroxide, toluene, red phosphorus, methylene chloride, premium-grade ethanol, ethyl acetate, and heavy machinery were also recovered from the lab. Police have also arrested 4 people in connection with this.

The Tihar Jail warden was running a drug lab in connivance with a Delhi businessman
Initial investigations by the NCB and the Delhi Police have revealed that the lab was set up by a warden of Tihar Jail in connivance with a Delhi-based businessman. The businessman was earlier arrested by the DRI in an NDPS case and sent to jail. During his custody, he was lodged in Tihar Jail, where he met the accused warden, and the two decided to make drugs together. The accused warden used to look after the supply of drugs in connivance with the criminals lodged in the jail, and the accused businessman used to look after the purchase of chemicals and import of machinery.
Many big names can come up after the investigation
A chemist from Mumbai was hired by the accused to manufacture the drugs, while a member of the Mexican cartel residing in Delhi was hired to check the quality of the drugs. All four accused have been arrested by the NCB. They were produced before a magistrate on October 27 and remanded in three-day police custody. NCB officials say that “at present these accused are being interrogated, so the name has not been disclosed. After the investigation, many big names can also come out.”
