India-Spain Joint Venture In Receiving Its First C-295 Transport Plane

The C-295 will replace the over-the-hill Avro Airbus Of IAF. The 56 out of 16 of the C-295 will be manufactured in Spain and the 40 remaining will be manufactured in Gujarat, Vadodara in the contract of 10 years from now. India will receive 16 C-295 Transport Planes in 48 months.

The project will boost Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s  “Atma Nirbhar Bharat” campaign and increase the project in aviation manufacturing.

Prime Minister Modi joined hands with Spain in inaugurating Pedro Sanchez for the manufacturing of C-295 transport plane. This joint venture will strengthen the India-Spain strategic and strong connection creating more opportunities in future between the two countries. 

What’s New In C-295 Transport Plane?

The new C-295 transport plane has the capacity of 5-10 tonnes. It will be able to take 70 troops in the present inaccessible places. C-295’s quick ramp door will make it able to react quickly to fast para-dropping of cargo and troops to the places of emergencies. The futuristic C-295 transport plane has the ability of short landing and take off in semi prepared areas. Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentions the technology of this plane will transport the aviation industry to the future. The plane C-295 will need 650 meters for runaway and 350 meters for take off. This ability can be hugely beneficial to reach the inaccessible hilly areas to reach food and life-saving items. 

C-295 manufacturing is considered to be the first military project of India where military planes will be manufactured in the country. This project will decrease the importation of products and strengthen the increase of aviation manufacturing within the country. 

A Decade Long Idea Of Ratan Tata’s 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi remembers the absence of Ratan Tata and mentioned him as the precious son of the country. He humbly mentioned his name and informed us that the project would be incomplete if he doesn’t admit it is a decade long plan. Ratan Tata’s brains behind this project is now being implemented in 2024. PM Modi mentioned, “We lost him a month earlier, if he was alive today he would surely be happy to see this implemented.” Ratan Tata passed away at the age of 86 on 9th October 2024.

Tata Sons And Indo-Spain Relationship

Ratan Tata is the reason today India-Spain is joining hands in making a joint venture. Tata Airbus Aviation first ground the root of increasing the Indo-Spain relationship in aviation projects. This joint venture will open new doors for the upcoming European companies in India.
