Communal Violence in Bahraich: Ghaziabad Police on High Alert

Ghaziabad Police is also on high alert after the violence during idol immersion in Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh. A heavy police force was deployed after the maha panchayat was held at the Dasna Devi temple on Sunday. Although the administration has lifted the ban on the entry of devotees into the temple, Section 163 has been imposed in the district till November 8 to prevent any disturbance.

The controversy started after the statement of Dasna Devi Temple Mahant Yati Narsinghanand Giri. Last Sunday, a maha panchayat was held in the temple without permission. Hundreds of people, including Loni MLA Nandkishore Gurjar, who were coming to attend the maha panchayat, were stopped by the police on different routes. Police had to resort to lathi charges to disperse the protestors.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dehat) Surendranath Tiwari said that along with the police force, the PSC has also been deployed in the Dasna temple and the surrounding area.Senior police officials are patrolling the area. The DCP said that the ban on the entry of outsiders into the temple has been removed. However, outside devotees are allowed entry even after verifying their IDs. Strict vigilance is being maintained in the area, he said. The Ghaziabad Police is fully capable of dealing with any kind of disturbance.

Violation of Section 163

The DCP announced the imposition of Section 163 regarding festivals in Ghaziabad until November 8. A gathering of 5 or more people will not be allowed during this period. Strict action will be taken against those flouting the rules.
