In a statement, the Indian High Commission in Dhaka expressed concern over the incident and asked the interim government of Bangladesh to recover the crown and take strict action against the culprits.

According to Bangladesh media reports, the crown of Maa Kali from the Jashoreshwari temple was stolen after Thursday afternoon. The chief priest of the temple had left the place after performing the afternoon puja; after some time, when the sanitation workers went there to clean the place, the crown was missing from the head of the goddess. The police were informed immediately about the incident. Police have registered a case and are scanning the CCTV footage. Police say the accused will be arrested soon. According to the media, the stolen crown was silver and had gold plating and coating on it.

Jashoreshwari Temple is located in Ishwaripur, Satkhira District, Bangladesh. This huge temple is one of the 51 Shaktipeeths of Maa Durga spread across India and the surrounding countries. According to the history of the temple, it was built in the 12th century by a Brahmin named Anari. It was renovated by Raja Lakshman Sen in the 13th century. At the same time, in the 16th century, King Pratapaditya rebuilt this temple. This temple is very famous in Bangladesh. Thousands of devotees visit the temple every day. After PM Modi’s visit to Bangladesh, India has also constructed a community building here.
