Durga Puja pandal vandalized in Hyderabad: Mother’s idol’s hand broken, Puja items scattered

A major incident of vandalism and damage to idols inside a Durga Puja pandal in Hyderabad has come to light. Some anti-social elements entered the Durga Puja venue at Nampally Exhibition Ground in Hyderabad and vandalized it. The unidentified accused broke the hand of the idol of Maa Durga and also threw away the puja items. Tension has been prevailing in the area after the incident, and the Hindu community has expressed outrage over the incident.

A heavy police force has been deployed in the area. Senior police and administration officials are present at the spot. The case is being investigated by the Begumpura police. Police have detained some suspects for questioning. The officials have assured that the matter will be thoroughly investigated and strict action will be taken against the culprits.

Pandals vandalized after the Dandiya event

According to media reports, Devi Puja is held every year on the occasion of Navratri at the Nampally Exhibition Society. Apart from the society, a large number of people also participate in it. It is being told that the Dandiya program was organized on Thursday night at the Durga Puja pandal here. After the program was over, everyone had gone to their homes. When the morning came, the statue was found broken and the puja items were scattered. As soon as the incident was reported, DSP City Lakhbir Singh Tiwana and Sadar Police Station Chief Jagjit Singh rushed to the spot. The Begumpura police have registered a case and are investigating the matter, he said.

Police investigation revealed that anti-social elements entered the pandal late in the night after the Dandiya program was over. The accused first disconnected the power supply to the pandal and then broke the CCTV cameras installed there. Following this, the accused vandalized the entire house. It is being told that these accused stayed in the pandal for a long time, but no one can even notice it. The incident came to light after the police reached the spot this morning.
