After the defeat in the Haryana Assembly elections, Congress leaders had started blaming it on EVMs, but now the Congress has decided to change its strategy. The Congress now wants to focus on the party’s internal problems instead of blaming the EVMs. The party will try to find out its shortcomings, due to which it lost the victory in Haryana. In such a situation, a big change is being considered within the state leadership.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the Congress Working Committee chaired by party president Mallikarjun Kharge. According to media reports, Kharge has said that he will not raise the issue until concrete evidence is found against the EVMs. It is important to properly assess your shortcomings before accusing others. Rahul Gandhi was also present at this meeting. They were angry with the party leadership. Rahul Gandhi said, “The state Congress leaders put their self-interest above the party, due to which we lost. Rahul’s target was Bhupinder Hooda and Shailja Kumari, who were engaged in a factional fight for the chief minister’s post during the elections.
The Congress also formed a fact-finding team for the meeting. This team will investigate the complaints received about the EVMs and find out all the reasons for the defeat. Further action will be taken based on the team’s report.
According to Congress sources, the high command is quite upset with the infighting within the state Congress. That is why Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Kumari Selji, Randeep Singh Surjewala, and PCC chief Uday Bhan were not invited to the meeting. The party has sought a report from all its candidates. Ajay Maken said, “Exit polls and election results are completely different, and this is not acceptable. We are trying to find out the reason behind this. There can be numerous reasons. Rahul Gandhi has asked the party leaders to forget all differences and work for the party; otherwise, action will be taken.
