The nature and significance of Mother Skanda Mata

Skanda Mata is considered to be the goddess of war and victory. His name ‘Skanda’ is associated with Lord Kartikeya, the god of war and victory. The form of Skanda Mata is divine; He is accompanied by his son Kartikeya. His complexion is golden, and he sits on a lotus pedestal. Maa Skanda Mata has four arms, out of which Skanda (Lord Kartikeya) is in one hand and lotus in the other hand. Devotees get strength, courage, and victory by worshipping him.

Worship method

On the fifth day of Navratri, Goddess Skandmata is worshipped. On this day, devotees wake up early in the morning, take a bath, and wear clean clothes. Sanctify the place of worship and install the statue or picture of Maa Skandmata.

To please Maa Skandmata, kheer, fruits, sweets, and dry fruits should be offered on this day. In particular, devotees can offer them pumpkin halwa, churma, and fruit salad. The following mantra can be chanted to worship Maa Skandamata:

“Om Namah Shivaya.”
