The investigation into the rape and murder of a woman doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital is still underway. The CBI, which is investigating this heinous incident, has now made shocking revelations. The CBI, based on its investigation, has claimed that 26 serious injury marks, including those of gang rape, were found on the body of the trainee woman doctor. The CBI investigators are of the view that it is not the prerogative of any single person to carry out such a brutal incident.
How the victim was injured, the CBI feels that the main motive of the killer or killers was to torture and kill the woman doctor. In the preliminary investigation, the CBI suspects that the killers deliberately raped the victim to give a different color to the incident, while their main motive was to kill the woman doctor. In the last few days, we have received several complaints about doctors being intimidated and creating discrepancies in the testing system. Though we don’t have the exact figure yet, we have forwarded all these complaints to the state-level grievance redressal committee.
40 doctors have been suspended for six months
“We have received complaints from six government medical colleges and hospitals in the state. The complaints came after junior doctors partially returned to work. Some complaints have also been sent directly to the state health department headquarters and the health secretary. Several other complaints have also reached the Director of Health Services. A list of all these complaints has been prepared and sent to the redressal committee. Necessary action has also been taken on some complaints. As many as 40 doctors have been suspended for six months for allegedly threatening junior doctors at the College of Medicine and JNM Hospital in Nadia district, a health official said. They have been allowed to enter the premises only at the time of examination.
