Every now and again we see and hear unfortunate incidents happening with women in our country especially. It’s high time we do something for the safety and empowerment of women. In response to these, the Legendary Grandmaster Shifuji Shaurya Bhardwaj and the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) have together taken an initiative with Mission Prahar and Mission Sahasi. This is done to provide women with practical tools, training and self confidence to protect themselves in difficult situations.
This event will take place on the 14th and 15th of September 2024 in Sports Authority Of India (SAI) Netaji Subhash Eastern Center, Sector 3, Bidhannagar, Kolkata, under the guidance of Legendary Grandmaster Shifuji Shaurya Bhardwaj. On this day, the city shall witness the movement of women’s empowerment, which will be just the beginning of a larger movement across West Bengal. This event will eventually cover the entire state in the second phase with 500 female trainers for empowerment.
Mission Prahar: A Lifesaving Initiative by Legendary Grandmaster Shifuji Shaurya Bhardwaj
This initiative was founded on October 17, 1999, in Tinsukia, Assam, by Legendary Grandmaster Shifuji Shaurya Bhardwaj. And now Mission Prahar has certainly become one of the most promising women empowerment campaigns in India. The initiative is taken simply to empower women with practical tools, training, and self-confidence to protect themselves, thereby protecting their dignity in any circumstances.
Mission Prahar Training System (MPTS) is designed for every woman, especially those in rural and underprivileged communities who are not well equipped with technology-based safety solutions such as mobile apps or devices. It teaches how to defend oneself using common tools like pens, hair clips, and handbags and well-performed physical moves. With over 4 million women trained, it is also recognized globally and praised by the Washington Mail as the World’s Most Practical Survival Tactics Training Program. And not just that, it remains free of cost for women from economically poor backgrounds, making it accessible to millions of women across India.
The Birth of Mission Sahasi: A Collaboration with Sunil Ambekar Ji
This initiative was launched in 1949, and now, in collaboration with Shri Sunil Ambekar Ji, then the General Secretary of ABVP and the Akhil Bharatiya Prachar Pramukh of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), the Legendary Grandmaster Shifuji Shaurya Bhardwaj aims at empowering women, particularly college-going students, with the skills to defend themselves. This initiative, which is inspired by the core principles of Mission Prahar, was started as a train-the-trainers initiative in Mumbai and Delhi, ensuring that the training could be scaled nationwide.
Over the years, Mission Sahasi has trained over 1.8 million women, and its success lies in its ability to give importance to practical survival tactics and mental conditioning, making women not just survivors but warriors.
Kolkata Event: The First Chapter of a Statewide Initiative
The Mission Prahar and Mission Sahasi training event in Kolkata will serve as the first chapter of a larger campaign across West Bengal, under the leadership of Legendary Grandmaster Shifuji Shaurya Bhardwaj.
The event is supported by the present National General Secretary of ABVP, Ashish Chauhan Ji, and the National Joint Organising Secretary, Prafull Akant Ji, who are once again joining forces with Legendary Grandmaster Shifuji Shaurya Bhardwaj to bring Mission Prahar’s training to women in West Bengal.
Viral Success: Grandmaster Shifuji’s Call to Action After the RG Kar College Incident
Legendary Grandmaster Shifuji Shaurya Bhardwaj made a powerful public statement in response to the RG Kar Medical College incident, where a female medical student became a victim of a very inhuman act. He promised to offer Mission Prahar Training System to the people of Kolkata and West Bengal. Also, his YouTube shorts and Instagram reels addressing the issue went viral with a huge 79 million views across three major platforms and 5.1 million shares. In the video, he called upon anyone—whether Chief Minister Madam, BJP, TMC, ABVP, NSUI, or Congress—to gather students for training. He also stated that he would personally come to Kolkata to train the girls as part of the solution to this growing problem.
