After today, whatever doubts you have in your mind about the word Morya, they will definitely be dispelled.
The story behind Morya is very interesting.
Actually, there is a very interesting story behind Morya. This story is of Chinchwad village in Pune, Maharashtra. It is about the 14th century, where a person named Morya Goswami used to live. Morya Goswami’s father had no children. Morya was born by the grace of Lord Ganesha, due to which his parents had deep faith in Ganesha. Seeing his parents, he started worshiping Lord Ganesha. In this way, time passed, and with the passage of time, his devotion also started increasing. You can guess his devotion from the fact that every year on the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, he used to go on foot from Chinchwad to Morgaon for Ganesh Puja. All this continued, and Morya’s devotion was increasing day by day. Meanwhile, with the passage of time, Morya also started growing old. It is said that one day Lord Ganesha himself came in his dream and told him, “You will find my idol in the river.”
He had unwavering devotion towards Lord Ganesha.
Well, when Moraya got up in the morning and went to the river to take a bath, he found an idol of Lord Ganesha there. What he had said in his dream turned out to be true. People were stunned to know this. After this incident, people started believing that if there is any exclusive devotee of Ganpati Bappa, then it is only Moraya Gosavi. Then what happened? After that, people started coming from far-off places to see Moraya Goswami. Devotees would come, touch Moraya’s feet, and say Moraya. In return, Moraya Goswami would call his devotees Mangalmoorti. It is said that this is how Mangalmoorti Moraya started. Of course, it was the miracle of his unwavering devotion towards Lord Ganesha that he became synonymous with the worship of the deity. People started calling him Ganpati Bappa Moraya. See the miracle of devotion to Lord Ganesha and how the name of an ordinary devotee, Moraya, got associated with the name of Lord Ganesha. This is the reason that since then the name of Ganpati Bappa is not taken without Moraya. And all the devotees chant the mantra ‘Ganpati Bappa Morya’ with full devotion.
