Russia started a strong bombardment on Kiev, the capital of Ukraine, early Monday morning. This turned Russia’s battle with Ukraine’s path entirely different. In this attack, Russia employed drones, cruise missiles, and other types of weapons. Part of the boiler house of a water plant was destroyed in Kiev’s Holosiwsky district. Apart from this, a major fire started in the Shevchenkivsky neighborhood, which houses numerous educational institutions. Although the attack rendered Ukraine’s air defense system very vigilant, its force has caused great concern for Ukraine’s security.
Rockets landed on Kharkiv, injuring 47 people.
Russian missiles’ attack targeted more than only Kiev. It also made contact with Kharkiv. Big city Kharkiv lies in northeastern Ukraine. Five children, among at least 47 others, were injured when missiles struck a retail mall and event venue. Since the attack on Kharkiv, terror and fear have permeated Ukrainian citizens. In response, Ukraine has accelerated the manufacturing of its own drones and escalated attacks on Russian military, energy, and transportation hubs.
Zelensky’s global popularity
Following this rapid attack on Kharkiv, Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelensky, has urged world leaders to show strength, stop Russia’s terror, and provide Ukraine with the required aid. On his Telegram channel, Zelensky remarked, “The world must unite all of its strength to stop this terror.” Extra-terrestrial forces are not necessary for this, but leaders have to be brave enough to equip Ukraine with the means of defense. From his demand, it is abundantly evident that Ukraine now seeks assistance from all around the globe and is certain that the powerful nations will stand with it.
Ukraine’s answer
Russia’s strikes on Kiev and Kharkiv have strengthened Ukraine’s offensive as well. Several times Ukraine attacked Russia with drones, striking an oil plant and a power station. Officials in Ukraine said these strikes were crucial to weaken Russia’s military might. Ukraine has also strengthened the air defense system and counterattack strategy to get ready for future attacks by Russia.
