Prime Minister Narendra Modi has apologized to the public by taking a big step in this matter. He had arrived to attend a program in Palghar, Maharashtra on August 30, 2024. During this, he said from the stage with folded hands and bowed head, “I apologize with bowed head for the falling of the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.” This step shows how seriously the central government is taking this issue.

The state government has formed a technical committee to find out the reasons behind this accident. Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) has announced a massive agitation against the government on this issue. Senior party leader and MP Sanjay Raut has announced that a “Shoot Maaro Andolan” will be launched from Sunday. Raut said, “That statue is not just a statue for us, but a statue of God. These people have also committed corruption in the statue of our God. We will not tolerate this.”

First arrest in the case

The first arrest was made on Friday in the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj statue controversy. Structural consultant Chetan Patil has been arrested from Kolhapur. The police had earlier made contractor and architect Jaydeep Apte and structural consultant Chetan Patil accused in the FIR. They have been accused of negligence and potentially causing harm to people around the statue.
