New turn in relations with Pakistan: Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar has given a big statement about Pakistan.
He has clearly said that the phase of talks with Pakistan is now over. Jaishankar said, “Pakistan has ended the phase of talks without interruption. Now we will respond to every step of Pakistan in its own language.” He said this on the occasion of the launch of a book in Delhi. Jaishankar also talked about the complexity of relations with neighboring countries. He said that wherever you look in the world, relations with neighboring countries are always difficult.
Challenges of relations with neighboring countries
According to S. Jaishankar, “keeping ties with neighbors is the toughest chore. They can never be totally fixed.” He added that although many people discuss Bangladesh or Maldives, if you look at the whole globe, problems with surrounding nations abound everywhere. The Foreign Minister explained that relations with neighbors never remain the same. They always keep changing. This is the reason why it is so difficult to handle these relationships.
Pakistan relations: New approach
S. Jaishankar spoke in detail about relations with Pakistan. He said, “The era of talks with Pakistan is over now. We should remember that every action has a reaction.” Referring to Jammu and Kashmir, he said that Article 370 has been removed. The Foreign Minister clarified that now the question is what kind of relations can be with Pakistan. He said, “Every positive and negative step of Pakistan will be given a befitting reply in its own language.”
Allegations on Imran Khan government
S. Jaishankar blamed the government of former Prime Minister Imran Khan for the deteriorating relations between India and Pakistan. He said, “After 2019, the Imran Khan government took such steps which worsened the relations between the two countries. We did not do anything, they did.”
Bangladesh and Maldives: Ups and downs in relations
The Foreign Minister also talked about relations with Bangladesh and Maldives. He said that our relations with Bangladesh have been full of ups and downs since its inception. Jaishankar remarked, “We have to come to terms with political changes occurring there.” And at the same time we have to take care of the interests of both the countries.”
SCO meeting and Modi’s invitation
This statement of S. Jaishankar has come at a time when just a day ago Pakistan has invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting to be held in Islamabad in October. It will be interesting to see what will be India’s reaction to this invitation.
