Along with approving Rs 7,015 crore for the Nar-Par-Girna river linking project, the cabinet also took decisions like loan repayment to cooperative sugar mills under government guarantee, uninterrupted power scheme to farmers during the day, transfer of government employees by August 30, setting up a corporation for senior citizens, and early completion of the stalled slum rehabilitation scheme in Mumbai Metropolitan. It is estimated that about 50 lakh senior citizens will benefit from the decision to set up a corporation for the senior citizens of the state.
