November 19, 1914 saw Shri Eknathji Ranadeji born in Maharashtra’s Amravati area. Since childhood, he had a strong feeling of nationalism; he enhanced this sense by affiliating with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). At barely twelve years old, Eknathji joined the Sangh in 1926. He was at this age grasping the Sangh concepts and totally committed to the Sangh activity. His special leadership qualities and organizing ability helped him to occupy a significant position within the Sangh.
Organizational capacity and intellectual dispersion
Eknathji Ranade’s life stood as a model of Sangh dedication and service. He performed the vital task of disseminating Sangh principles not only in Maharashtra but throughout the nation. Eknathji showed unusual bravery and patience when the Sangh was outlawed following the murder of Mahatma Gandhi in 1948. He brought the Sangh out of this trying period and maintained the members’ organization.
Eknathji was assigned the All India Pracharak of the Sangh in the 1950s. In this role, he aimed to more aggressively disseminate the Sangh’s philosophy. He was instrumental in raising Sangh branch counts all throughout the nation and strengthening Sangh faith among its members.

Shri Eknathji Ranade’s name also links with Swami Vivekananda Shila Memorial. Eknathji started building the Vivekananda Shila Memorial in 1962 while the Indo-China war was raging in Kashmir.
