Mahabharata’s Great Warrior: Khatu Shyam Baba

Khatu Shyam Baba was Barbarik. A grandson of Bhima and son of Ghatotkacha. Barbarik was renowned for his bravery and archery. Three celestial arrows allowed him to terminate the Mahabharata battle alone. When conflict broke out, he wanted to join. In battle, he had to fight on the weaker side. Lord Krishna chose to test his bravery after hearing this.

Barbarik was asked by Lord Krishna which battle side to support. Barbarik said he would always back the underdog. Lord Krishna then told him that if he joined the conflict, only he would stay, defeating its purpose. Lord Krishna then requested his head as a sacrifice. Khatu Shyam Baba donated his head to Lord Krishna out of reverence.
